Aerial Amplifier And Aerial Diversity Module: Notes
The system phase aerial diversity consists of an aerial amplifier and a diversity module in the headunit. Up to 2 aerials are in operation for the phase diversity. The aerial amplifier relays the amplified aerial signals to the headunit via 2 separate signal lines . In the headunit the two aerial signals are mixed using the diversity function so that an optimal received signal is generated. For example, the phase diversity system is available in combination with the HU-B (Headunit Basis) or HU-H (Headunit High).
In contrast to the phase diversity, up to 4 aerials are in operation for the scan aerial diversity. However, only the aerial signal from the aerial with the best signal quality is sent to the headunit via a signal line . For example, the scan diversity system is available in combination with CHAMP (multimedia platform) or CIC (Car Information Computer).
Depending on national-market version, the configuration of the aerial amplifier can vary. For example, depending on the vehicle equipment and national-market version, the aerial amplifier may contain the following aerial connections:
- FM/AM aerial
- FM 2 aerial (depending on equipment level)
- DAB aerial (frequency range: band III)
SDARS aerial (depending on equipment)
