61 35 278 Removing/installing/replacing Body Domain Controller (BDC)

Preliminary work needed: 

• Clamp off BATTERY LEAD FROM NEGATIVE CONNECTION POINT .
• Remove GLOVE COMPARTMENT .
• Remove FOOTWELL SIDE TRIM PANEL ON A-PILLAR ON RIGHT .

Removal:

Unlock the positive battery cable connector: 

1. Loosen lock (1) in arrow direction.
2. Unfasten catch (2) on positive battery lead connector (3).
3. Remove positive battery lead connector (3) in arrow direction.

Unlock and disconnect all connectors (1) in marked area.

Release detents and pull control unit BDC (2) to the side out of holder.

Installation:

Join control unit BDC (2) to the side in holder. Connect all connectors (1) in marked area.

Lock positive battery cable connector: 

1. Join positive battery cable connector (3) against arrow direction.
2. Lock detent (2) to positive battery cable connector (3).
3. Close lock (1) against arrow direction.

When replacing the BDC: 

Carry out PROGRAMMING/CODING .

Required follow-up work: 

• Install FOOTWELL SIDE TRIM PANEL ON A-PILLAR ON RIGHT .
• Install GLOVE COMPARTMENT .
• Connect BATTERY CABLE NEGATIVE TERMINAL .
