Control unit was replaced.
With the introduction of ISTA 4, the programming functionality was integrated into ISTA.
- The following series can be treated with ISTA/P: Exx series and RR1, RR2, RR3
- The following series can be treated with ISTA 4: Fxx, Gxx, Ixx series and following
To avoid errors during programming/coding, the current ISTA/P or ISTA 4 version must be used.
For programming, the programming data must also be installed for ISTA 4.
Battery voltage must not drop below 13.0 V during programming. Only use battery chargers recommended by BMW for low-voltage vehicle electrical systems.
No high-voltage switch off is required in electric vehicles or hybrid vehicles for programming/coding.
The high-voltage system is switched off automatically by the programming system.
- Programming with ISTA P:
Connect the battery charger to the vehicle.
Connect the programming system with the vehicle.
Connect the ICOM vehicle interface to the workshop network via a LAN cable. Check cable routing (do not route cables through open side windows).
Turn on the ignition or activate testing-analysis-diagnosis (PAD) before connecting the ICOM vehicle interface to the vehicle.
Start ISTA session.
Determine the action plan.
Accept and fully process the action plan.
Wait until programming/coding has been completed.
Depending on the reworking list, carry out an ISTA diagnosis session if necessary.
Disconnect the programming system from the vehicle.
Disconnect the battery charger from the vehicle.
