CLOCKSPRING Test

If clockspring fails any check, replace with a NEW clockspring.

  1. Visually check the case for damage. Check the connectors and protective tube for damage, and the terminals for deformation. If any malfunction is found, replace the clockspring with a new one. If no malfunction is found, go to next step.
  2. Check for the continuity between clockspring connector C-61 terminal No. 1 and horn switch connector C-65 terminal. See Fig 1. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair or replace connector of wire. After repair, go to next step.
  3. Align paint mark on SRS Test Harness (MB991613) connector No. 4 with notch in clockspring connector No. 2 and join connectors. See Fig 2. Using a DVOM, check for continuity between terminals No. 22 and 23 at SRS test harness connector No. 5. Resistance should be less than 0.4 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace clockspring.
