Engine Controls - Sensor Operating Range Charts 2.4L: Introduction

Sensor operating range information can help determine if a sensor is out of calibration. An out-of-calibration sensor may not set a trouble code, but it may cause driveability problems.

NOTE: Perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. To identify ECU terminals, see wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE TEST (1)

Application Wire Color (1-Degree Signal) Wire Color (120/180-Degree Signal)

(1) Measure voltage between indicated wire color terminals.
(2) Voltage should fluctuate between zero and 5 volts.
(3) Black wire at end of connector is for ground; measure voltage at other Black wire.
