Radiator Fan Motor Test

  1. On non-turbo engine, apply battery voltage across fan motor terminals. Radiator fan motor should operate. If motor does not operate, replace motor.
  2. On turbocharged engine, disconnect radiator fan motor connector. Using jumper wire, connect negative battery lead to center terminal of radiator fan motor connector. Using a second jumper wire, connect positive battery lead to either outer terminal. Motor should run in low (or high) speed.
  3. Disconnect jumper wire from outer terminal and reconnect it to remaining outer terminal. Motor should run in high (or low) speed. If motor does not operate as indicated, replace motor.
