DTC Confirmation Test (Overall Function Check)

NOTE: Use the following test to check overall function of EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve (EVAP-CVCV). During this test, DTC may not be confirmed.

Malfunction is detected when EVAP-CVCV remains open under certain driving conditions. Possible causes are:

Defective EVAP-CVCV.
Faulty EVAP Control System Pressure Sensor (EVAP-CSPS) or circuit.
Blockage in EVAP-CVCV hose.
Defective water separator.
EVAP canister saturated with water.
Defective vacuum cut valve.

To check overall function of EVAP-CVCV, disconnect hose from water separator. See Figure. Disconnect EVAP-CVCV harness connector. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage between EVAP-CVCV terminals. See Figure. Air should not flow through EVAP-CVCV. Remove jumper wires. Air should flow through EVAP-CVCV. If operation is as specified, go to DTC P0442: EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM (SMALL LEAK - NEGATIVE PRESSURE) . If operation is not as specified, perform DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
