DTC Confirmation Test (Using Generic Scan Tool)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Infiniti G35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use ECM ground terminals when measuring voltage. Damage to ECM transistor may result. Use engine ground.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of HO2S2 sensor circuit. During this test, a DTC may not be confirmed.
NOTE:
If a DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing next DTC confirmation test.
- Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature.
- Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Start engine and keep the engine speed at 3500-4000 RPM for at least one minute under no load.
- Let engine idle for one minute.
- Measure voltage between engine ground and ECM harness connector F101 terminal No. 88 (bank 1) or terminal No. 90 (bank 2) by backprobing.
- While monitoring voltmeter, quickly increase engine speed to 4000 RPM and release accelerator pedal. Repeat 10 times. Voltage should change at a rate of more than 0.06 volt in one second during this procedure. If voltage is as specified, system is okay at this time. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
- Keep vehicle idling for 10 minutes, then check the voltage. Or, check the voltage when coasting from 50 MPH (80 km/h) in "D" position. Voltage should change at a rate of more than 0.06 volt in one second during this procedure. If voltage is as specified, system is okay at this time. If voltage is still not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
