DTC P1102: Mass Airflow Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Infiniti G35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor is placed in the stream of intake air. It measures intake flow rate by measuring a part of the entire intake flow. It consists of a hot film that is supplied with electric current from ECM. Temperature of hot film is controlled by ECM a certain amount. Heat generated by hot film is reduced as intake air flows around it. The more air, the greater the heat loss. Therefore, ECM must supply more electric current to maintain temperature of hot film as air flow increases. ECM detects air flow by means of this current change.
