Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Infiniti Q45. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect electric throttle control actuator harness connector. See Figure . Disconnect ECM harness connector. See Figure . Check continuity between specified electric throttle control actuator terminals and ECM harness connector terminals. See CHECKING ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR-TO-ECM CIRCUIT CONTINUITY table. See Figure and Figure . Also, check circuits for short to ground and short to voltage. If problem is found, repair as necessary. If circuits are okay, go to next step.
- Remove intake air duct. Check for foreign matter between throttle valve and bore. If foreign matter is not found, go to next step. If foreign matter is found, remove foreign matter, and clean inside of electric throttle control actuator.
- Measure resistance between electric throttle control actuator terminals No. 3 and 6 (component side). Resistance should be about 1-15 ohms at 77°F (25°C). If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, go to step 5 .
- Check for intermittent condition. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. If problem is found, repair as necessary. If problem is not found, go to next step.
- Replace electric throttle control actuator. Perform ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASED POSITION LEARNING procedure, THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING procedure and IDLE AIR VOLUME LEARNING procedure. See PROGRAMMING .
