DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Infiniti G35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If a DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing next DTC confirmation test.
NOTE: Before performing test, ensure fuel tank level is 1/4-3/4 and vehicle is on flat level surface. Always perform test when ambient temperature is 32-86°F (0-32°C).
  1. Turn ignition on.
  2. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds.
  3. Turn ignition on and select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II.
  4. Ensure COOLAN TEMP/S indicates 32-158°F (0-70°C) and INT/A TEMP SE indicates 32-86°F (0-86°C).
    5. NOTE: If engine speed cannot be maintained within range displayed on CONSULT-II screen, perform BASIC INSPECTION. See ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
  5. Select EVAP SML LEAK P0442/P1442 of EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II. Follow instructions displayed.
    6. NOTE: Ensure EVAP hoses are connected to EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve properly.
  6. If NG is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  . If OK is displayed, system is okay at this time.
