DTC Confirmation Test (Using Generic Scan Tool)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Infiniti G35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Never use compressed air. Doing so may damage the EVAP system. Do not start engine. Do not exceed 0.6 psi (4.12 kPa).
NOTE:
Use this procedure to check the overall function of the EVAP very small leak function. During this check, a DTC might not be confirmed.
NOTE:
If a DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing next DTC confirmation test.
- Connect EVAP Service Port Adapter (J41413-OBD) to EVAP service port. See Figure .
- Connect a pressure pump and a hose. Also connect a vacuum gauge via 3-way connector and a hose.
- Turn ignition on. Connect generic scan tool and select MODE 8. Using MODE 8, control the EVAP canister vent control valve (close).
- Apply pressure and ensure the following conditions are satisfied:
- Pressure to be applied: 0.79 in. Hg (2.7 kPa).
- Time to wait after the pressure is drawn in to the EVAP system and the pressure to be dropped: 60 seconds and the pressure should not drop more than 0.12 in. Hg (0.4 kPa). If NG is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If OK is displayed, go to next step.
- Disconnect generic scan tool. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds.
- Restart engine and let it idle for 90 seconds. Keep engine speed at 2000 RPM for 30 seconds. Turn ignition off.
