Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Infiniti G35. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
DO NOT use ECM ground terminals when measuring voltage. Damage to ECM transistor may result. Use engine ground.
For component location, see COMPONENT LOCATIONS . For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For circuit diagram, see Fig 1 . For ECM pin voltage reference values, see Fig 2 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector F-101. Check voltage between ECM harness connector F-101 terminal No. 67 and ground. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, go to step 3 .
- Check the following:
- Harness connectors E12 and F3.
- Defective fusible link No. 34 (15-amp).
- Harness for open or short between ECM and battery.
- No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. If no problem is indicated at this time and CONSULT-II is available, go to next step. If no problem is indicated at this time and CONSULT-II is not available, go to step 5 . If intermittent problem is found, repair or replace as necessary.
- Turn ignition on. Select SELF-DIAG RESULTS mode with CONSULT-II. Press ERASE. Perform DTC Confirmation Test. See DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If 1st trip DTC is detected again, go to step 6 . If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
- Turn ignition on. Select MODE 4 with generic scan tool and clear DTCs. Perform DTC CONFIRMATION TEST . If 1st trip DTC is detected again, go to next step. If 1st trip DTC is not detected, system is okay at this time.
- Replace ECM. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - EXCEPT I35 & QX4 article. Perform ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASED POSITION LEARNING , THROTTLE VALVE CLOSED POSITION LEARNING and IDLE AIR VOLUME LEARNING procedures under PROGRAMMING.
