Malfunction Indicator Lamp (Mil): Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Nissan Titan. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The MIL is located on the instrument panel.
- The MIL will light up when the ignition switch is turned ON without the engine running. This is a bulb check.
If the MIL does not light up, refer to WARNING LAMPS in GAUGES & INSTRUMENT PANEL - TITAN article in ACCESSORIES & BODY, CAB, or see MIL AND DATA LINK CONNECTOR in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - TITAN article.
- When the engine is started, the MIL should go off. If the MIL remains on, the on board diagnostic system has detected an engine system malfunction.
