Fuel Tank-To-Pump System
Diesel fuel is drawn from fuel tank by an engine mounted electric fuel supply pump. Pump receives battery current when ignition switch is in "RUN" or "START" positions. Delivery pressure to fuel injection pump is 5.5-6.5 psi (.39-.46 kg/cm2 ). Maximum operating current is 3 amps. A small screen type filter is located in fuel tank at the fuel pick-up. A larger fuel filter is located either in the engine compartment (NB9 Fuel Filter System only) or on rear of engine between fuel supply pump and fuel injection pump. Diesel fuel arrives at center inlet fitting on injection pump after leaving filter. A fuel return line is provided to return any excess fuel to tank.
