CYLINDER HEAD BOLT TIGHTENING PROCEDURE

Fig. 3 Cylinder head bolt tightening sequence:

1. Tighten cylinder head bolts gradually with torque wrench to 25 Nm (18 lbs. ft.) in sequence shown.
2. Repeat sequence, bringing torque to 30 Nm (22 lbs. ft.) on all bolts except number 9. Torque number 9 to 40 Nm (29 lbs. ft.).
3. Repeat sequence. Turn all bolts, except number 9, 120 degrees (two flats). Turn number 9, 1/4 turn (90 degrees).
