Key In Ignition Chime

Ignition Warning Chime Circuit:

DESCRIPTION:

The BCM provides system voltage to the ignition key warning circuit, and the ignition key warning switch provides the single path to ground. The BCM supplies and internally monitors the voltage level of the circuit at pin 3C13/3D15. When the ignition key warning circuit is open the BCM will detect system voltage, but if the ignition key warning switch provides a path to ground (key in ignition switch and switch in lock position), the BCM will detect low voltage. Once the BCM has determined that all of the failure conditions have been met, it will turn on the medium paced chime on the chime module.

TEST CONDITIONS:

NONE.

FAILURE CONDITIONS:

1. Key in ignition.
2. Driver door is open.
3. Ignition is "OFF."

ACTION TAKEN:

Activate the fast chime on the chime module.

DIAGNOSIS:

Chime with key out - Short to ground on CKT 80 or shorted switch

Chime inoperative - Open in CKT 80, open in sensor, or open in CKT 803.
