Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

NOTE: Care must be taken when handling ECT sensor. Damage to ECT sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Relieve cooling system pressure.
3. Disconnect electrical connector from sensor.
4. Using a 19 mm deep well socket and 6 inch extension, remove sensor.

INSTALLATION

1. Coat sensor threads with sealer.
2. Install sensor in engine, torque to 34 N-m (18 lb.ft.).
3. Reconnect electrical connector.
4. Refill coolant.
5. Install battery ground cable.
6. Start engine, check for coolant leaks.
7. Recheck coolant level.
