Removal & Installation (4.0L)

Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect connectors at ignition control module. See Fig 1. Disconnect spark plug wires from coil pack. Remove coil pack/ignition control module assembly. For ignition control module location, see COMPONENT LOCATIONS in appropriate SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTING article in this section as listed below. Separate ignition coil(s) from ignition control module (if possible).
- SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - 3.8L (for Aurora & Riviera)
- SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - 4.0L (Aurora Only)
To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten ignition control module mounting bolts/nuts. Tighten mounting bolts/nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
