Code 40, Power Steering Pressure Switch Circuit Open: Notes

Code will set if engine is running, vehicle speed is 45 MPH or greater and power steering pressure switch opens for 60 seconds or more.

1. Scan should cycle from normal to high pressure. If scan constantly displays normal, there is an open or short to ground on circuit. If scan constantly displays high pressure, there is a short to voltage on circuit.
2. Checks pressure switch input circuit for short to voltage or if switch is faulty.
3. Checks for open power supply circuit or open fuse.
4. Checks if power steering pressure switch is open.
5. Checks if pressure switch input circuit is open or PCM is faulty.
