Code 76, Transaxle Pressure Control Solenoid: Notes
Code will set if Codes 16, 86 and 89 are not set, engine is running and the difference between actual and commanded pressure control solenoid current is .16 amp for greater than one second, or if transaxle pressure control solenoid is energized at 100 percent duty cycle for 3 minutes or more.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Checks for open in pressure control solenoid circuitry. If resistance is greater than 8 ohms, circuit is considered open.
- If DVOM measures greater than 8 ohms, check high and low circuits inside transaxle. Check pressure control solenoid.
- Checks for short to ground in pressure control solenoid circuitry. If resistance is 100 ohms or less, circuit is considered shorted to ground.
- Verifies pressure control solenoid circuitry is good. Code is either intermittent or PCM is faulty.
- If DVOM measures 100 ohms or greater, check high and low harness circuits between PCM and transaxle connector for short to ground. If ohmmeter measures 100 ohms or less, check for short to ground in internal transaxle harness. If okay, replace pressure control solenoid.
