Code P1558, Cruise System Problem SPS Indicated Low: Notes

Control module controlled cruise control system is designed to be self monitored to ensure desired cruise servo position and actual cruise servo position are equal to one another. Control module will set Code P1558 when actual servo position is too low when maximum servo is commanded.

If Code P1558 is set, control module will disengage cruise control and C/C set speed exceeds vehicle speed by greater than 5 MPH. P1558 does not illuminate Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL).

1. Checks servo position sensor. If signal is not being received at control module, use Code P1565 to diagnose problem.
2. Verifies vacuum portion of cruise system is operational.
3. Checks for faulty brake switch.
