DTC B2532, Front FOGLIGHT Relay Output Short To Ground/Open
NOTE:
To identify relay wiring colors, see appropriate wiring diagram in HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS & DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article.
- If BFC diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If BFC diagnostic system check was not performed, go to BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Remove foglight relay from right I/P bussed electrical center. Using DVOM, check voltage between foglight relay terminal No. 86 at electrical center and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 14).
- Replace foglight relay with a known-good relay. If foglight system operates properly, go to step 16). If foglight system does not operate properly, go to next step.
- Reinstall original foglight relay. Disconnect BFC 16-pin connector C1, terminal A2 (Dark Green/White wire). Using DVOM to check voltage, backprobe between right I/P bussed electrical center connector C1, terminal F3 (Dark Green/White wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 6).
- Using DVOM, check voltage between BFC harness connector C1, terminal A2 (Dark Green/White wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to step 12). If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 8).
- Check for a poor connection at right I/P bussed electrical center connector C1, terminal F3 (Dark Green/White wire). If a poor connection exists, go to next step. If connection is okay, go to step 14).
- Repair poor connection at right I/P bussed electrical center connector C1, terminal F3 (Dark Green/White wire). Go to step 16).
- Remove foglight relay. Using DVOM, check resistance between BFC connector C1, terminal A2 (Dark Green/White wire) and right I/P bussed electrical center connector C1, terminal F3 (Dark Green/White wire). If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, go to step 10).
- Using DVOM, check resistance between BFC harness connector C1, terminal A2 (Dark Green/White wire) and ground. If resistance is infinite, go to step 16). If resistance is not infinite, go to step 11).
- Repair open in Dark Green/White wire between BFC connector C1 and right I/P bussed electrical center connector C1. Go to step 16).
- Repair short to ground in Dark Green/White wire between BFC connector C1 and right I/P bussed electrical center connector C1, and then go to step 16).
- Check for a poor connection at BFC connector C1. If a poor connection exists, go to next step. If connection is okay, go to step 14).
- Repair poor connection at BFC connector C1. Go to step 16).
- Replace right I/P bussed electrical center connector. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article. If system is now operating properly, go to step 16). If system is not operating properly, go to next step.
- Replace BFC. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Go to next step.
- Clear DTCs. Perform BFC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
