Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge Malfunctioning

  1. Using scan tool, monitor PCM. If engine coolant temperature signal is correct, go to next step. If engine coolant temperature signal is incorrect, see appropriate BASIC TESTING article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
  2. Using scan tool, monitor BFC SPI serial data bus. If engine coolant temperature signal is correct, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article. If engine coolant temperature signal is incorrect, replace BFC. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  .
