Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) Or Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM): Removal

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix, 1999 Pontiac Firebird, 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1999 Chevrolet Camaro, and 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix.   1. EBCM/EBTCM is mounted on top of left front frame rail ("F" body) or on left side strut tower in engine compartment ("W" body). Disconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Pull out lock tab from EBCM/EBTCM harness connector and disconnect connector. Disconnect pump motor connector from bottom of EBCM/EBTCM.
  2. Remove and discard 6 EBCM/EBTCM-to-Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) screws. Using care so as not to damage seal and solenoid valves, pull EBCM/EBTCM and separate from BPMV. Note location and position of wave spring(s) between EBCM/EBTCM and BPMV. Remove and discard wave spring(s).
