  2. Using a scan tool, select Special Functions. Determine if vehicle is equipped with a Service Bay Test for EVAP system. Is vehicle equipped with EVAP Service Bay Test? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  5 .
  3. Ensure the vehicle is within the Conditions for Running DTC. See CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING DTC  . Turn off all accessories (e.g., A/C, blower fan, etc.). Using scan tool, perform EVAP Service Bay Test. Did the EVAP System pass the Service Bay Test? If yes, go to step  8 . If no, go to next step.
  4. Observe scan tool service bay test for indication of why the test did not pass (e.g., failed DTC, test aborted, etc.). Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE COMPLETE SYSTEM SET PROCEDURE  .
WARNING: Road test vehicle under safe conditions and while obeying all traffic laws. Do not attempt any maneuvers that could jeopardize vehicle control. Failure to adhere to these precautions could lead to serious personal injury and vehicle damage.
  5. Turn off all accessories (e.g., A/C, blower fan, etc.). Once engine is started, DO NOT turn engine off for the remainder of the procedure or until test is complete. Start and operate engine at idle.
    • Accelerate vehicle at part throttle to 45 MPH and maintain speed until engine reaches normal operating temperature.
    • Continue for an additional 3 minutes after engine reaches normal operating temperature, or until I/M System Status indicator updates to YES.
Did the EVAP System Status update to YES? If yes, go to step  8 . If no, go to next step.
  6. Using scan tool, observe DTC Information. Does scan tool indicate any failed DTCs? If yes, diagnose affected DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If no, go to next step.
NOTE: Refer to INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE SYSTEM DTCS  to determine which DTCs are required to run in order to complete this test.
  7. Using scan tool, observe the NOT RAN SINCE CODE CLEARED display. Determine which of the DTCs required for a YES status has not run. Enter DTC number in the Specific DTC menu of scan tool. Operate vehicle within the Conditions For Running the DTC. See CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING DTC  . Repeat procedure until scan tool indicates the diagnostic test has run. Repeat step  4 for any additional required DTCs that have not run. Using scan tool, observe I/M System Status display. Did EVAP system status update to YES? If yes, go to next step. If no, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  8. Using scan tool, observe the emission related DTC portion of I/M System Status display. If scan tool indicates any emission related DTCs set, diagnose affected DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  . If no DTCs are displayed, system is okay.
