Installation Procedures
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sonoma and 2003 Chevrolet S10 Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install new strainer, if necessary, on fuel sender assembly.
- Install fuel sender assembly with a new seal into the fuel tank.
- Install fuel tank.
- Install pickup box.
- Disconnect fuel feed line at the front of the vehicle.
- Connect a hose to the fuel feed line at the front of the vehicle.
- Insert end of hose into a one gallon fuel can.
- Connect negative battery cable.
- Fill 6 gallons of clean fuel into fuel tank.
- Using scan tool, energize fuel pump until 1/2 gallon of fuel flows into the fuel can. This will purge the fuel pump.
- Install fuel line at the front of the vehicle.
- Inspect for leaks through the following steps: Turn ignition on for 2 seconds, turn ignition off for 10 seconds, then turn ignition on. Inspect for fuel leaks.
NOTE:
Do not fold or twist strainer when installing the sending unit. This action restricts fuel flow.
