Torque Converter Lock-Up Relay

  1. Torque converter lock-up relay is located in engine compartment. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using a DVOM in voltmeter mode, backprobe Orange/Black wire at relay. If voltage is more than 10 volts, see appropriate G - TESTS W/ CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section. If voltage is less than 10 volts, disconnect and inspect relay connector. Repair as necessary.
  2. If connector is okay, backprobe Dark Blue wire at relay. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace lock-up relay. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue wire.
