Manifold Air Temperature (MAT) Sensor (2.0L Engine Only)

MAT sensor is located in the air cleaner. Disconnect sensor connector. Measure resistance of sensor. If resistance is not within specification, replace sensor. If sensor is okay, check for a faulty circuit to ECM and/or a diagnostic fault code. If a "Scan" tester is used to check temperature and the vehicle has been allowed to cool to ambient temperature (overnight), the coolant temperature sensor and MAT should indicate approximately the same temperature.
