Distributor Reference Signal

The distributor transmits a signal to ECM for engine RPM and crankshaft position. Ignition timing is controlled by the HEI ignition module until engine RPM signal to the ECM reaches 400 RPM. At 400 RPM the ECM supplies a 5-volt signal to HEI module that switches timing control to the ECM.
