DTC 21/31, Courtesy Lights Feed (Circuit Shorted To Ground): Testing

  1. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment. Check for open in COURTESY fuse No. 8 located in instrument panel fuse block. If fuse is okay, go to step 3). If fuse is open, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect BCM connector C2. Using DVOM, check for short to ground at BCM connector C2 terminal "B". Repair short to ground in battery circuit as necessary. If short to ground is not present, replace COURTESY fuse No. 8. Connect a test light between BCM connector C2 terminals "B" and "E". If test light does not illuminate, replace BCM. If test light illuminates, repair short to ground in courtesy lights feed circuit.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect BCM connector C2. Connect a test light between BCM connector C2 terminal "B" and ground. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in battery circuit. If test light illuminates, go to next step.
  4. Connect a test light between BCM connector C2 terminals "B" and "E". If test light does not illuminate, replace BCM. If test light illuminates, repair short to ground in courtesy lights feed circuit.
