DTC B1000: Body Control Module Internal Fault: Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Firebird and 2002 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Body Control Module (BCM) performs a self-test to detect any internal fault when wake up is commanded by any of these inputs: remote transmitter, door jamb switch, ignition switch, theft deterrent shock sensor, rear compartment lid ajar switch, light control switch, or ignition key lock cylinder. No external circuits are involved. Requirement is only voltage and ground. If an internal fault exists, DTC B1000 is set, and BCM will refuse all additional inputs. Current DTC B1000 can be cleared after BCM makes a successful write to EEPROM and checksum maneuver, or history DTC will disappear after 100 ignition cycles if fault conditions do not reoccur.
