Tamper Sensors Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Firebird and 2002 Chevrolet Camaro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Enter Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostic mode. See USING SECURITY INDICATOR  under RETRIEVING BODY CONTROL MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES. BCM also responds to changes in shock sensor or tamper input. Tamper input is activated by minor blows to vehicle, and shock input is activated by heavy blows to vehicle. Shock input can be activated by tapping on shock sensor located behind right rear wheelwell. If either input is activated, BCM will cause horns to chirp. BCM will also flash fasten seat belt indicator light and will sound an audible warning tone. This is an effective method of checking shock sensor and associated wiring is to tap on shock sensor while in diagnostic mode.
