Powertrain Control Module

NOTE: If Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is unable to communicate with theft deterrent control module (loss of class 2 state of health) after vehicle has started, module will consider itself malfunctioning and enter a fail enable state illuminating SECURITY Indicator. Vehicle will not stall or stop running. If PCM is in a fail enable state when ignition switch is turned to OFF, it will remain fail enabled until next time vehicle is started. If PCM is fail enabled theft deterrent system is NOT active and vehicle will start. PCM will remain fail enabled until class 2 communication with theft deterrent control module is restored.

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) verifies that password received from theft deterrent control module via class 2 serial data circuit is correct. PCM can learn only one enable password. If enable password is correct, PCM enables starting and fuel delivery systems.

PCM disables starting and fuel delivery systems if any of following conditions occur:
