Water Pump (Unit Repair): Installation

Prior to installing the water pump read the entire procedure. Pay special attention to avoid part damage and to ensure proper sealing.

Install water pump assembly.
Install water pump bolts. Initially finger tighten bolts.
Torque:

Water Pump Bolts: 25 N.m (18 ft-lbs)
Install the water feed tube.
Lubricate feed tube O-ring with silicone gel lubricant.
Install water feed tube by twisting and pushing toward water pump. Take care not to tear or damage O-ring.

Install thermostat housing to block bolts.
Torque:

Thermostat Housing-to-Block Bolts: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)
Apply thread sealant Permatex® 56521 (or equivalent) to sensor threads.
Install engine coolant temperature sensor.
Torque:

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: 20 N.m (15 ft-lbs)
