Test B: Lock System Does Not Lock

  1. Review steering wheel and column description and operation. See DESCRIPTION & OPERATION  . After review, go to next step.
  2. Using ignition key, verify lock system does not lock. If lock system is not operating correctly, go to next step. If lock system is operating correctly, system is okay at this time.
  3. Inspect for faulty lock cylinder or release button. If lock cylinder or release button is not faulty, go to next step. If lock cylinder or release button is faulty, go to step  5 .
  4. Inspect ignition switch for damage. If ignition switch is not damaged, go to next step. If ignition switch is damaged, go to step  6 .
  5. Replace lock cylinder, then go to step  7 .
  6. Replace ignition switch, then go to next step.
  7. Operate system to verify repair. If system is not operating correctly, repeat test beginning at step  3 .
