Verifying Reprogramming

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am, 2003 Oldsmobile Alero, 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and 2003 Chevrolet Impala. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Vehicles will require that Crankshaft Variation Learn or Theft Deterrent Relearn procedures be performed after programming. See CKP SYSTEM VARIATION LEARN PROCEDURE  and PROGRAMMING THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM COMPONENTS  .

Verify the PCM programming was successful using the following procedure:

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position for 30 seconds.
  2. Start the engine.
  3. If the vehicle does not start or starts but runs rough, repeat the SPS procedure.
