Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Chevrolet Prizm. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The DRL module board is enclosed in the plastic case with an integral wiring harness.

CAUTION: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
  • Air bag deployment
  • Personal injury
  • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
  • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
  • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  1. Disable the SIR System. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the instrument panel compartment. Refer to COMPARTMENT REPLACEMENT -- IP .
  3. Remove the 2 screws which secure the DRL mounting brackets (3) to the instrument panel.

  5. Disconnect the DRL control module electrical connector (2).
  6. Remove the DRL control module (1) with the mounting brackets attached from the vehicle.
  7. Remove the DRL control module (1) from the mounting brackets (3) by releasing the module case clips using a flat-bladed tool.
