Accelerator Controls Pedal

  1. Remove the left Instrument Panel (IP) sound insulator. Remove the fasteners securing the closeout IP to the instrument panel retainer. Remove the heater temperature sensor from the closeout IP by turning 1/4 turn counter clockwise. Disconnect electrical connector from the lower IP courtesy lamp. Slide the closeout insulator panel rearward in order to remove from the vehicle.
  2. Remove the accelerator control cable from accelerator controls pedal. See Fig 1 . Remove the accelerator controls pedal retainer from the accelerator controls pedal. See Fig 3 . Remove the accelerator controls pedal.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal. The throttle should operate freely without binding between full closed and wide open throttle.
