Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the right engine mount strut. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Right .
    2. Fig 1: View Of J 45057

  2. Install the J 45057  to the right engine mount strut bracket (1). See Special Tools and Equipment .

  3. Install the J 45057  to the left side engine lift bracket. See Special Tools and Equipment .

  4. Install the J 45057  to the right rear engine lift bracket. See Special Tools and Equipment .
  5. For Buick vehicles, remove the headlamps. Refer to Headlamp Assembly or Headlamp Bulb Replacement (Aztek) or Headlamp Assembly or Headlamp Bulb Replacement (Rendezvous) in Lighting Systems.
  6. Disconnect the hood strut assist rods from the fenders.
  7. Carefully open and secure the hood in a 90 degree position.

  8. Install a J 28467-B  and retention pin to each end of theJ 28467-500  beam (2). See Special Tools and Equipment .

  9. Position the J 28467-B  to the left and right side inner fender rails in order to install the J 28467-500  . See Special Tools and Equipment .

  10. Assemble the following to create 2 lift hook assemblies as shown:

  11. Install the 2 lift hook assemblies (1) to the J 45057-2  (2). See Special Tools and Equipment .

  12. Install the right side lift hook assembly to the right side hole in the J 45057  (2). See Special Tools and Equipment .

  13. Install the left side lift hook assembly to the left side hole in the J 45057  (2). See Special Tools and Equipment .
  14. Gently tighten the J 28467-34  lift hook wing nuts. See Special Tools and Equipment .
  15. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  16. Remove the lower air baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors in Engine Cooling.
  17. Remove the engine mount left bolt.

  18. Install the J 45057-2  to the radiator core support. See Special Tools and Equipment .
  19. Use the engine mount bolt to install the J 45057-2  to the engine. See Special Tools and Equipment .

  20. Ensure that the J 45057-2  is assembled properly and hand tighten the fasteners. See Special Tools and Equipment .
