Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2008 GMC Yukon XL, 2008 GMC Yukon, 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2008 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Before removing the air tubes, perform the following steps:
    • Turn the ignition On, with the engine OFF.
    • Install a scan tool.
    • With the scan tool, exhaust the air from the system for at least 60 seconds.

    IMPORTANT: Clean the components and the surrounding area to prevent dirt from entering the air system before disconnecting the air hose from the air compressor.
    IMPORTANT: There will be a minimal amount still in the air tubes.
  4. Disconnect the air tube (1) from the air dryer.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connection (2).

  7. Remove the air inlet and hose (1) from the fuel filler neck bracket.
  8. Loosen the mounting nuts.
  9. Slide the air compressor (2) rearward to clear the frame slots.
  10. Remove the air compressor from the vehicle.
