Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac DTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF for 120 seconds, disconnect the harness connector at the VDAAW module.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ voltage circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ voltage circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, test the B+ voltage circuit for a short to ground.
- Ignition OFF, check for less than 1.0 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for a short to voltage or open/high resistance.
- Ignition OFF for 120 seconds, connect the harness connector at the VDAAW module and disconnect the harness connector at the headlamp switch.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Mode Switch parameter is Inactive.
- If not the specified value, test the switch signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the VDAAW module.
- Install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the switch signal circuit terminal 6 and the B+ voltage circuit. Verify the scan tool Mode Switch parameter is Active.
- If not the specified value, test the switch signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the VDAAW module.
- Verify the scan tool Mode LED parameter is OFF.
- If not the specified value, test the indicator signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the VDAAW module.
- Install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the indicator signal circuit terminal 5 and the B+ voltage circuit. Verify the scan tool Mode LED parameter is ON.
- If not the specified value, test the indicator signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the VDAAW module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the headlamp switch.
IMPORTANT:
Before disconnecting the harness connector at the VDAAW module, ensure that the ignition has been OFF for at least 120 seconds. Failure to do so may result in component damage.
