Installation Procedure

    Fig 1: Identifying Fuel Injector Assembly

  1. Install the fuel injector assembly.
  2. Install a new injector vibration insulator to the fuel injector assembly.
  3. Apply a light coat of oil to the contact surfaces of the O-ring of the fuel injector assembly.

    IMPORTANT: Do not twist the O-ring. After installing the fuel injectors, check that they turn smoothly. If not, replace the O-ring with a new one.
  5. While turning the fuel injector assembly left and right, install it onto the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

    IMPORTANT: Install the No. 1 delivery pipe spacers in the correct direction.
  7. Install the 2 No. 1 delivery pipe spacers onto the cylinder head.

  9. Install the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly with the 4 fuel injector assemblies, then temporarily install the 2 bolts.
  10. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  11. Tighten the 2 bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 21 N.m (15 lb ft).

  13. Install the bolt to secure the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 21 N.m (15 lb ft).

  15. Install the wire harness bracket with the bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 5.0 N.m (44 lb in).

    IMPORTANT: Check that there are no scratches or foreign matter around the contact surfaces of the fuel tube connector and pipe before performing this work. After connecting the fuel tube, check that the fuel tube connector and pipe are securely connected by pulling on them.
  17. Connect the fuel tube sub-assembly.
  18. Insert the fuel tube sub-assembly connector into the fuel delivery pipe until a "click" sound can be heard.

  20. Install a new No. 2 fuel pipe clamp (Type B).

  22. Install a new No. 2 fuel pump clamp (Type A).

  24. Connect the engine wire.
  25. Install the 2 wire harness brackets with the 2 bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 13 N.m (10 lb ft).

  27. Connect the 4 wire harness clamps.

  29. Connect the 4 fuel injector assembly connectors.
  30. Connect the 2 wire harness clamps.
  31. Connect the ground wires with the 2 bolts.
  32. Install the air cleaner assembly with hose.

  34. Connect the No. 2 ventilation hose.
  35. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .
  36. Connect the cable to the negative battery terminal.
  37. Inspect for a fuel leak.
  38. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
