Removal Procedure

  1. Discharge the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
    2. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .
  2. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
  3. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
    4. Fig 1: Identifying No. 2 Ventilation Hose

  4. Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose.
  5. Remove the air cleaner assembly with hose.

  6. Remove the engine wire.
  7. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the ground wire.
  8. Disconnect the 4 fuel injector assembly connectors.
  9. Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps.

  10. Disconnect the 4 wire harness clamps.

  11. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wire harness brackets.

  12. Disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly.
  13. Remove the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp (Type A).

  14. Remove the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp (Type B).

  15. Using SST, disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly.

    SST 09268-21010

  16. Remove the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.
  17. Remove the bolt and remove the wire harness bracket.

  18. Remove the 2 bolts.

  19. Remove the bolt and the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

  20. Remove the 2 No. 1 delivery pipe spacers.

  21. Remove the fuel injector assembly.
  22. Pull the 4 fuel injector assemblies out of the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

    IMPORTANT: Prevent entry of foreign objects by covering the fuel injector with a plastic bag.
  23. For reinstallation, attach a tag or label to the injector shaft.

  24. Remove the 4 injector vibration insulators.
