Removal Procedure

  1. Discharge the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .
  3. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
  4. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  5. Fig 1: Identifying No. 2 Ventilation Hose

  6. Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose.
  7. Remove the air cleaner assembly with hose.

  9. Remove the engine wire.
  10. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the ground wire.
  11. Disconnect the 4 fuel injector assembly connectors.
  12. Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps.

  14. Disconnect the 4 wire harness clamps.

  16. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wire harness brackets.

  18. Disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly.
  19. Remove the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp (Type A).

  21. Remove the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp (Type B).

  23. Using SST, disconnect the fuel tube sub-assembly.

    SST 09268-21010

  25. Remove the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.
  26. Remove the bolt and remove the wire harness bracket.

  28. Remove the 2 bolts.

  30. Remove the bolt and the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

  32. Remove the 2 No. 1 delivery pipe spacers.

  34. Remove the fuel injector assembly.
  35. Pull the 4 fuel injector assemblies out of the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

    IMPORTANT: Prevent entry of foreign objects by covering the fuel injector with a plastic bag.
  37. For reinstallation, attach a tag or label to the injector shaft.

  39. Remove the 4 injector vibration insulators.
