Installation Procedure

    Fig 1: Identifying ECM Brackets Screws

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  1. Install the 2 ECM brackets onto the ECM with the 4 screws.

    Tighten:  Tighten bolts to 3.2N.m (28 lb in)

  2. Install the ECM with the 3 bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten bolts to 8.0N.m (71 lb in)

  3. Connect the 2 ECM connectors and lower the 2 levers.

  4. Install the wire harness clamp.
  5. Install air cleaner assembly with hose. Refer to Air Cleaner Element Replacement 
  6. Connect cable to negative battery terminal.
    7. IMPORTANT: Initialization cannot be completed by only removing the battery.
    Perform the RESET MEMORY (AT initialization) when replacing the ECM (SeeControl Module References ).
    Perform the REGISTRATION (VIN registration) when replacing the ECM (SeeControl Module References ).
  7. Perform initialization.
