Circuit/System Testing

  1. Engine running, accessories OFF, measure and record the battery voltage at the battery terminals. The voltage should be between 12.6 and 15.0 volts.
  2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors of the appropriate control module.
  3. Ignition OFF and scan tool disconnected, open and close the driver door, and wait 1 minute.
  4. Test for less than 5.0 ohms between the ground circuit and ground.
    • Terminal 61 X1-Terminal E12 X4 (BCM)
    • Terminal 31 (SDM)
    • Terminal 15 (IPC)
    • Terminal 8 X2 Radio
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  5. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit and ground.
    • Terminals D1-D12 X3 (BCM)
    • Terminals 1-33 (SDM)
    • Terminals 11-13 (IPC)
    • Terminal 1 X2 Radio
    • If the test lamp did not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  6. If all circuits test normal, replace the appropriate control module.
