Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors at the ECM.
  2. Ignition OFF and scan tool disconnected, open and close the driver door, and wait 1 minute. Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminals listed below and ground.
    • 2.0L Terminal 1 X2
    • 2.0L Terminal 2 X2
    • 2.0L Terminal 4 X2
    • 2.4L Terminal 73 X2
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ / ignition circuit terminals listed below and ground.
    • 2.0L IGN Terminal 3 X2
    • 2.0L IGN Terminal 5 X2
    • 2.0L IGN Terminal 6 X2
    • 2.0L IGN Terminal 41 X2
    • 2.0L IGN Terminal 54 X2
    • 2.0L B+ Terminal 56 X2
    • 2.4L IGN Terminal 3 X1
    • 2.4L IGN Terminal 73 X1
    • 2.4L IGN Terminal 19 X1
    • 2.4L B+ Terminal 20 X1
    • If the test lamp did not illuminate, test the B+ / Ignition circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. If all the circuits test normal, replace the ECM.
