Drive link test: Notes
WARNING:
Danger of injury if the drive link test is carried out when the vehicle is in motion!
- Never carry out the drive link test when the vehicle is in motion!
The following conditions must be observed when carrying out the drive link test
- The drive link test must always be carried out on a stationary vehicle in a workshop with sufficient commercially available tools! The front left seat must then be partially removed in order to deactivate the cutoff relay again.
The airbag triggering unit includes a drive link test, which can be activated using the 9588 Porsche System Tester II. This involves carrying out the following functions:
- The central locking system unlocks all 5 doors.
- The courtesy lights are switched on.
- The warning light is switched on.
For vehicles of model year '03 (control units with index 00):
- The cutoff relay is triggered (i.e. partial battery interruption present).
For vehicles with V8 engine and automatic transmission, model year '03 and '04:
- The vehicle engine is switched off (DME control unit interrupts ignition and fuel feed).
NOTE:
- The ignition (terminal 15) can still be switched on again after this drive link test.
- However, the engine cannot be started until the cutoff relay is deactivated again! (Only for vehicles of model year '03 (control units with index 00))
- For vehicles with V8 engine and automatic transmission, model year '03 and '04: fault code P1266 and/or P1620 is triggered in the DME control unit!
Procedure:
- Connect battery charger (see "COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE BATTERY CHARGING DEVICE ").NOTE:
- The following requirements must be met before the drive link test is carried out:
- Selector level in position 'P' or 'N', or no gear selected.
- Parking brake actuated.
- Warning lights off.
- All doors closed and locked.
- Courtesy lights off.
- For vehicles with V8 engine and automatic transmission, model year '03 and '04: Engine idling
- Using the 9588 Porsche System Tester II, select the menu item 'Drive link test' in the Airbag system.
- Then press the [F8] 'Start' key.
- Press [F8] 'Start' again.NOTE:
- The cutoff relay is triggered (i. e. partial battery interruption present).
- The central locking system unlocks all 5 doors.
- The courtesy lights are switched on.
- The warning light is switched on.
- For vehicles with V8 engine and automatic transmission, model year '03 and '04: The engine is switched off.
- Press the [>>] 'Continue' key.
- Return to the menu by pressing [<<].
- For vehicles with V8 engine and automatic transmission, model year '03 and '04: read out DME fault memory with the 9588 Porsche System Tester II and erase any faults recorded by the drive link test (see DRIVE LINK TEST and 24 70 19 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DME CONTROL MODULE - AS OF MY 2003 (CAYENNE TIP, CAYENNE MAN, CAYENNE S TIP, CAYENNE S MAN, CAYENNE TURBO) , or 24 70 19 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DME CONTROL MODULE - AS OF MY 2004 (CAYENNE TIP, CAYENNE MAN) ).
