Teaching New Dme Control Unit

The > 9900 - PIWIS Tester 3 instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.
The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in > 9900 - PIWIS Tester 3.
Information
All remote controls (keys) are required for teaching a DME, front-end electronics (front BCM), rear-end electronics (rear BCM), electronic steering lock (ELV) control unit for example, or for teaching remote controls (keys).
Remote controls (keys) that are not taught during this procedure will no longer be recognised by the vehicle.
- Risk of irreparable damage to control unit

- Fault entries in the control unit
- Coding in the control unit is aborted
- Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming
- Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
- Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A to the vehicle battery.
- > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II must be connected to the vehicle before starting the System Tester. Switch on ignition using original remote control (hand-held transmitter).
- Select the vehicle type and press.
- Select DME with cursor keys and press > > key.
- Select Control unit replacement with cursor keys and press >> key.
- Select Read out values (vehicle data) with cursor keys and press >> key.
- The message Values were read out appears on the Tester screen.
- Switch off ignition and replace control unit.

- After you have installed the new DME control unit, select Write values
in the Control unit replacement
menu to re-load the data that was read out.
Order type 92AAT1 and 92AA21: Continue with points 9 and 10.
All other order types: Continue with points 11 and 12.
- Select Coding/programming. Press F12 to continue.
- Select Automatic coding.

Information
The wiper comes on once when DME programming is complete.
- Do not place any objects on the windscreen.
- Do not touch the windscreen during programming.

- Switch ignition off and on again.
- Go back to the Start page on the Tester.
- Select the Online teaching function menu on the Start page.
- Select Vehicle ,> > . Vehicle data will be read out.
- The vehicle identification number (VIN) is displayed. Enter the vehicle identification number if necessary.
- Enter the repair order number.> > .
- Enter the PPN user name and password. > > .
- The Login is performed.
- The Tester displays the message Login successful. Press > > .
- Follow the instructions on the Tester to select the required menu.
- Once the teaching process is completed successfully, the Tester shows the following status, for example:
2 keys taught
BCM front: taught
ELV: taught
BCM rear: taught
DME: taught
Overall vehicle status: taught

- Press EXIT to exit the Online teaching function and select the vehicle type on the Start page.
- For the learning and adaptation routine of the throttle valve (electronic accelerator), switch the ignition off and then on again for 60 seconds without starting the engine. Do not actuate accelerator pedal. Switch ignition off again for at least 10 seconds. Switch on the ignition. This completes the adaptation of the throttle valve adjusting unit and the teaching process is complete.
- Press F27 Read all fault memories and erase if required and delete all faults.
- Adapt DME control unit with test drive and read out fault memories again.
