Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

The oxygen sensor should be replaced every 30,000 miles. Remove the oxygen sensor, and replace, making sure to coat threads with heat resistant grease, and keep the sensor portion free of contaminants. A maintenance indicator, inserted into the speedometer cable closes an electrical contact which illuminates an indicator lamp on the dashboard. After replacement of the oxygen sensor, reset the maintenance indicator as outlined under, Exhaust Gas Recirculation, Service and Repair.
